The Last Apple

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

One apple remains at the top of the tree, red against November, missed by ladder, bird, and hand. It is not waiting for us. It has its own appointment with frost, gravity, ground. I admire what ripens without needing to be gathered.
