Library in a Pocket

by The Bright Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

On the late bus home I open a book no shelf could hold. A dictionary waits beneath my thumb. A map unfolds without a crease. A woman dead three hundred years speaks clearly through the rain. The driver calls my stop. I close ten thousand doors and carry every key into the dark.
