The Final Amen
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
The final amen has seven endings.
The organ chooses one.
The choir chooses another.
The congregation keeps the original.
Our conductor holds both hands aloft
as if gathering loose birds.
Somehow every ending circles back,
finds the same last chord,
and sits down together
half a beat late.
