Palm Branches After
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
After the service,
palm branches lie beneath the pews,
green commas from a sentence
we have not finished.
A child carries one home.
An usher sweeps the rest.
Faith is partly what happens
when the procession ends:
who bends to gather,
who keeps walking,
what welcome becomes work.
