The Tenor Enters Early
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
The tenor enters early
with confidence enough for two.
The altos raise one eyebrow.
The basses study their shoes.
Our conductor stops the world
with one lifted finger.
Again, she says.
This time the tenor waits,
and when his moment finally comes
he enters twice as proud.
