Crescent Before Sunrise

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

A thin moon remains above the eastern roofs, late to leave or early to be forgotten. Morning has begun whitening the chimney smoke. One blackbird tests a note. The crescent does not vanish at once. It loosens into blue, a silver parenthesis closing around nothing I know how to say.
