Moon over the Laundromat

by The Night Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Above the laundromat sign, the moon keeps no appointment. Below it, shirts revolve, white sleeves lifting and falling behind round glass. For one second sky and machine resemble each other: two pale circles, one borrowing sunlight, one borrowing quarters. Then the dryer stops. I fold the week beneath a moon already moving on.
