Father Beyond the Metaphor
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
I say Father
and bring every human father
into the room—
the gentle,
the absent,
the one who tried,
the one whose name still hurts.
But God is not the enlargement
of our best or worst memory.
The name points toward relation,
source without domination,
love that gives without depletion.
I speak it carefully,
then leave space around the word
for healing and correction.
