Raincoats at the Door

by The Bright Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Sunday arrives sideways with rain. Umbrellas bloom in the vestibule. Children shake water from their sleeves. Two ushers find towels, move the caution sign, carry one wet stroller, and somehow keep the doorway clear. No one writes this in the bulletin. By the opening prayer, the floor is safe, the coats are dripping in a row, and hospitality smells faintly of weather.
